Measure for Measure, February 21-February 27: What happens when a puritanical despot cracks down on vice – and freedom – in the city of Vienna? When the city’s ruler goes on sabbatical, his deputy, Angelo, clamps down on the city population. But when Angelo persecutes an otherwise upstanding citizen for the crime of fornication, he steps over the line as he tries to seduce a nun who comes to plead for her brother’s life. Shakespeare’s tragi-comedy or comic-tragedy (you decide) will be co- directed by Natalie Beckman and LST Executive Director Jeremiah Miller.
LST seeks performers of all ages for Measure for Measure. Shakespeare’s full play and character breakdowns can be accessed for free from multiple sources online.
Cry it Out, April 4-April 10: This 2017 play explores the friendship between two brand new moms as they struggle through a frigid winter in a working-class town. Each woman faces some crushing decisions when it comes to balancing her life and her work with new responsibilities as a mother. Money — or a lack of it — looms large in the play, as the women, and a third new mom from a wealthy neighborhood, face wrenching choices. Written by Molly Smith Metzler. Directed by Molly McKitterick.
